Meeting Objectives

  • Receive and discuss MLPA Master Plan Science Advisory Team (SAT) evaluations, California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) feasibility analysis, staff evaluations, and MLPA Blue Ribbon Task Force (BRTF) guidance regarding draft marine protected area proposals
  • Receive presentation from special closures work group on disturbance issues; discuss options and guidance for incorporation
  • Receive presentation regarding key themes and ideas from public workshops
  • Discuss prospects for convergence across draft marine protected area (MPA) proposals and options to develop final round of MPA proposals
  • Plan next steps to revise draft MPA proposals at March 4, 2008 North Central Coast Regional Stakeholder Group (NCCRSG) work session and March 18-19, 2008 NCCRSG meeting

Note: The regional stakeholder group will break for lunch at approximately 11:45 a.m. and public comment will be taken immediately after lunch at approximately 12:30 p.m.

1. Provide status reports from recent MLPA Master Plan Science Advisory Team and Blue Ribbon Task Force meetings

2. Present findings of MLPA Master Plan Science Advisory Team, MLPA staff, and California Department of Fish and Game evaluations of draft marine protected area proposals

3. Receive other informational presentations

4. Discuss prospects for convergence of marine protected area proposals

5. Recap and plan next steps to prepare for the March 4, 2008 work session and March 18-19, 2008 meeting of the MLPA North Central Coast Regional Stakeholder Group
